Toronto is under a snowfall warning for tonight and tomorrow morning. Snow shovelling is a leading cause of back injury in winter months. Here are some tips to protect your back this winter from the Ontario Chiropractic Association.
For those of you with snow plows, make sure you are prepared. Test out your plows BEFORE the snow. Make sure the ignition turns on and maybe even review the manual again. You don't want to be stuck trying to get out of the driveway with the machine not starting.

When possible, avoid stretches that place your lower back into flexion and rotation (bending and twisting). Discs can be injured from either too vigorous or too prolonged of a stretch in this position.
